Walking on the Moon

If you think that the blog format looks a little different, you’re right. I upgraded to wordpress 2.0.4 which included a slightly modified default theme.

It’s a long flight from San Francisco to Montreal, so I passed the time with an old friend. My review of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is up in BBC.

There’s a new grap release. It really is a very little thing. Unless you’re compiling grap under g++ 4.1 or later, you don’t care about it. But the nice guys at Debian are moving to that in the near future and the sooner I fix my dumb typo in grap_draw.h, the better. I’m not going to change the FreeBSD port for this.

Update: I changed the CHANGES file to properly attribute the changes from 1.38 to 1.39 on 23 Mar 2006.  The checksum of the dist file changed, but no code did.

I had a couple small problems with the grap source I posted in 12 Mar.  Those problems have been fixed.  It was an install bug, so if you’ve got the code, you have good code.  New source is on the grap page, but I didn’t bump the version.

New grap release is available.  Go forth and graph great things.

Since I found an rss feed reader I like, Liferea, I’m sold on feeds as a way to keep up with the web. This is because it turns browsing the web back into reading news, which is good for old men like me. In any case, the easiest way to generate a feed is to use some blogging software. So now I’m going to use this blog to communicate site updates.

I’m also putting it into the menu as Walking on the Moon, where I used to post my rants (you can find the old ones under Archives). I haven’t done a new Walking rant in some time, and I’m planning to use this space for that, too.

I’ve got all the followups, etc. active, but moderated. Don’t hesitate to comment, should I actually build up the steam for a rant.
