My favorite “Best of” so far. Also, bacon.

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

My favorite list of “The Best <whatever> of 2008” so far is The Smoking Gun’s Best Mug Shots of 2008.  Link via The Onion’s AV Club.  Bask in the dumbness.

Oh, and I’d be remiss in my Bacon Guy role if I didn’t tell you that The AV Club taste tested Baconnaise recently.

Blue Angels opportunity

The Onion is pointing out a grand opportunity for aviators and would be aviators.

We have always been at war with East Asia

It seems like the lists of allies who signed up to fight the Iraq War seems to change from time to time.  Yes, the two tenses in that sentence might alarm you.  The New York Times notices these things.

Godwin’s Law and bacon

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

This fellow seems to be trying to apply Godwin’s Law to the whole bacon-is-awesome meme.

No, I don’t have a separate category for bacon posts.  Should I?

Sinfest: Obama for comics geeks

Sinfest this Sunday cast Obama very nicely for comics geeks.

Condiment of the week

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

It’s a little alarming that my friend Tim sent me a link to the baconnaise purveyors.  As much as I love bacon – and it really is an unhealthy amount – it’s kind of a scary moment when you realize you’re the “bacon guy.”

It’s much more alarming when your mom sends you the same link a day later.  My mom thinks I’m the bacon guy.

Don’t let my whining take the coolness of the baconnaise away, though.  And you should also check out their novel funding strategy for their company.

David Letterman and John McCain

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

I imagine that if you care about this you’ve seen some of the appearance.  I just watched some of it and I’m impressed that Letterman was playing more hardball than many political reporters.

A disturbing dispatch from the political front lines

Vote for who you like, but this is a little beyond the pale.  Spotted by one of Warren Ellis‘s minions.

I haven’t been this excited since Phil Collins was on….

Looks like I’ll need to find a TV.

Overcompensating

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Jeffrey Rowland’s Overcompensating has long been a favorite web comic of mine, but the election seems to be bringing out the best in him.  His alter ego is on the stump, and debating some familiar figures.  That second one is honestly the funniest Palin image I’ve seen; my visual cortex keeps transforming her into the comic image now.

By the way, that’s Kerry Edwards in the strips – Jeffrey changed his name to save money on bumper stickers.  That kind of thinking makes him the candidate for me.

Man, I hope Catbank is weathering the crisis OK.
