{"id":2665,"date":"2018-09-10T19:22:13","date_gmt":"2018-09-11T03:22:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lunabase.org\/~faber\/blog\/?p=2665"},"modified":"2018-09-10T19:22:13","modified_gmt":"2018-09-11T03:22:13","slug":"review-sourdough","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lunabase.org\/~faber\/blog\/?p=2665","title":{"rendered":"Review: Sourdough"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I hadn&#8217;t noticed that Robin Sloan also wrote <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lunabase.org\/~faber\/blog\/?p=1691\"><em>Mr. Penumbra&#8217;s 24-Hour Book Store<\/em><\/a> as well.\u00a0 <em>Sourdough<\/em> feels very much of the same world.\u00a0 Like <em>Penumbra<\/em>, it&#8217;s steeped in Silicon Valley culture and somewhat more enamored of it than I am.\u00a0 Sloan also puts an almost magical realism patina over it as well.\u00a0 The story is as much a fable or fairy tale about fitting in and finding yourself as anything else.<\/p>\n<p>The crotchety part of me wants to dismiss <em>Sourdough<\/em> as half-baked and unbelievable, but honestly Sloan&#8217;s writing is so charming that my crotchety self just gave up fighting about it.
