{"id":1712,"date":"2013-05-25T17:22:12","date_gmt":"2013-05-26T01:22:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lunabase.org\/~faber\/blog\/?p=1712"},"modified":"2013-05-25T17:22:12","modified_gmt":"2013-05-26T01:22:12","slug":"review-the-six-gun-tarot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lunabase.org\/~faber\/blog\/?p=1712","title":{"rendered":"Review: The Six-Gun Tarot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What can I say: I like western mashups.\u00a0 I enjoyed the original Vertigo Comics Jonah Hex horror\/western mashups, and I enjoyed <em>The Six-GunTarot<\/em>.\u00a0 The premise is a little <em>Buffy<\/em> meets <em>Bonanza, <\/em>and as with most high-concept titles, that can go either way.\u00a0 John Landis says &#8220;What&#8217;s important and essential is the execution of the idea.&#8221; Rod Belcher has executed.<\/p>\n<p>In some sense this is all from the Vertigo (or <em>Buffy<\/em>) handbook.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a mythical menace tied to this town in the West that draws a quirky set of powerful defenders to the area who must learn to work together to defeat the big bad.\u00a0 Along the way lessons will be learned, bonds will be forged, etcetera.\u00a0 <em>In a World Where&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So, execution matters.\u00a0 And Belcher delivers.\u00a0 He&#8217;s thoroughly competent at the action parts.
